COMMITMENT PROFILE At 6‑6 and 305 pounds, Darien (Conn.) High offensive tackle An‑ drew Stueber certainly looks the part of a college lineman. However, as a three‑ star prospect and the No. 64 offensive tackle in the country he's modestly rated. D a r i e n h e a d coach Rob Trifone c o u l d c a re l e s s about ratings; he be‑ lieves that Michigan uncovered a dia‑ mond in the rough. "I've been coach‑ ing high school for 37 years, and An‑ drew's as good as I've ever seen," Tri‑ fone said. "Not only on my own team, but any team I've ever played against. "He's that good." T h e M i c h i g a n coaches recognized it, too. Stueber camped at U‑M on June 18, and before he could walk off the field offensive line coach Tim Drevno extended a scholarship offer to him. Trifone was not surprised. "What sets him apart is that, al‑ though he's 6‑6 and around 300 pounds, is the way he moves," Trifone said. "I know the Michigan coaches saw that in person. He won a bunch of the speed and agility tests at the camp. "Andrew is just 16 years old. He turns 17 soon, but he still has three or four years of physi‑ cal maturity that will turn him into a monster. " U s u a l l y a 1 6 ‑ y e a r ‑ o l d k i d who's that big can be a little awkward and a little weak. They are as big as a house, but they are weak and haven't put it together yet — not this kid." Once the offer came, it only took s e v e n d a y s f o r Stueber to verbally p l e d g e t o U ‑ M . Even though he's a Connecticut kid, S t u e b e r s a i d h e grew up admiring Michigan and what they do with of‑ fensive linemen. That and a degree from the University of Michigan were too much for Stueber to pass up. "Coach Drevno offered me right there in the middle of the field after the camp," Stueber explained. "It was a surreal experience to be there and talk to him about everything. "Michigan has always been a school U-M Lands Connecticut Offensive Tackle Andrew Stueber Rivals.com rates Stueber as a three- star prospect and the No. 64 offensive tackle in the nation.
