  MICHIGAN FOOTBALL Lewis and Peppers will be among the best defensive players in the na- tion this season and are certain to be scrutinized throughout the year. Meanwhile, junior center Mason Cole attained a spot on the watch list for the Rimington Trophy May 17. The Rimington honor goes to the top center in college football each year. Cole is a two-year letterman who has never missed a start in his 25 college games. He made the move to center this spring and will anchor the U-M line from there this season. DAVID GRANITO TAKES OVER AS HEAD TRAINER Michigan football has added an- other experienced NFL veteran from a proven winning staff. David Granito will become the head athletic trainer for Jim Harbaugh's program after serving with the New England Patriots the past 15 years. Granito becomes the primary med- ical contact for football, responsible for the health care of the team. He worked as an assistant athletic trainer for the Patriots for 14 sea- sons, following one year as an as- sociate athletic trainer. Prior to that stint, Granito spent a season with the NFL's New York Giants in an as- sociate athletic trainer role. Before coming to the NFL, he worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for three years at West Virginia. Granito earned a master 's degree in athletic training from West Vir- ginia in 2001 after getting a bach- elor 's in physical education from Kean College in 1999. MORE FOOTBALL GAME TIMES ANNOUNCED Michigan's schedule for the fall is coming into a clearer picture, in terms of start times. Two more were announced in June, with the Wolver- ines taking on Central Florida at noon Sept. 10, a week prior to hosting Colo- rado at 3:30 p.m. ABC or ESPN will televise the UCF game, a decision that won't be made until after the first weekend of contests. The Big Ten Network will broadcast the showdown against the Buffaloes. Michigan's non-conference slate is now set for kickoff times: noon in the Sept. 3 opener against Hawai'i, noon against UCF and 3:30 p.m. for Colo- rado.
