Outfits, speeches and discussion quickly became the topic in June — and the offseason felt like 'The Summer of Jim.' RECRUITING IMPACT No matter how many times you ask him about it, Harbaugh will not be baited into discussing the recruiting aspect of the satellite camp tour, but there's no doubt it exists. A simple glance at the destinations makes it pretty clear that certain prospects were in mind when selecting the locations of the camps. Harbaugh is trying to tap into the Polynesian talent pool, and did so by hiring Tony Tuioti as director of player personnel and sending him to Ameri- can Samoa to teach the game of foot- ball to youngsters on the island. A couple of youth camps were held in Hawai'i and resulted in the first offer to a 2020 quarterback, Sol-Jay Maiava out of Kahuku (Hawaii) High School. Additionally, the Maize and Blue staff was on hand at the Poly Pride camp in Norco, Calif., and were also present at another installment of the same camp in Orem, Utah. Fullback/linebacker Chase Lasater out of Trinity Christian High School in Jacksonville, Fla., is committed to Michigan and plays on the same team as 2017 five-star cornerback Shaun Wade and 2018 five-star athlete Tyreke Johnson. Holding a camp at Trinity Christian grabbed the attention of the five-star duo and both hope to attend Michigan's BBQ at The Big House Aug. 6. After finishing up at Trinity Chris- tian, the coaches headed to St. Thomas Harbaugh even brought his family along for some of the satellite camp tour. He and his son, Jack, spent time on the field in Indianapolis together after camp wrapped up for the day. PHOTO BY BRANDON BROWN
