And while Carolina has certainly taken a step up as a program, there's some question as to how UVA's up‑tempo style will help the Cavaliers when they tangle with Larry Fedora's similar spread offense, which will be breaking in a new quarterback this season. 4. At UConn, Sept. 17 — While the matchup with the Huskies might not be one that fans circled when the schedule came out, this game could have a dramatic impact on UVA's chances of making it back to the postseason for the first time in five years. Not only would that solidify Mendenhall's bowl streak, but it also would mean massive dividends for the program's ability to recruit top talent. Connecticut's coaching staff also includes a group of former Virginia coaches, including perhaps the school's best defensive player ever: Former Wahoo All‑American safety Anthony Poindexter. 5. At Wake Forest, Nov. 5 — Much like the UConn game, this matchup in Winston‑ Salem might not jump out as a big game, but the Cavaliers need to figure out how to win on the road. This game against the Demon Deacons, one of the conference's worst teams year in and year out, represents a massive opportu‑ nity to earn a key victory but also to show that the Wahoos will win away from David A. Harrison III Field during the Mendenhall Era. TOP POSITION GROUPS 1. Running Back — The Cavaliers re‑ turn not only Taquan Mizzell, but will likely use Olamide Zaccheaus out of the backfield as well. Virginia will also have fourth‑year Albert Reid, third‑year Daniel Hamm and second‑year Jordan Ellis at tailback. Given the depth and overall skill sets in‑ volved, no group seems to have as much
