Rachel Sheridan graduated from the University of Virginia in 1994 and the Law School in 1998. During her undergraduate years, she was a member of the women's track and field team participating in the 1,500 meters and the half-mile. Sheridan redshirted her first year, using that time to adjust to college life as a student and athlete. While balancing both academics and athletics, Sheridan also made time to be involved in Greek life as a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Her fifth year she concentrated on classes that would prepare her for law school admission. Sheridan met her husband Paul during UVA Law School. Both are now corporate partners for the highest grossing law firm in the world, Latham & Watkins, and are based in Washington, D.C. Sheridan has nothing but fond memories of her time at UVA and speaks very highly of the beautiful grounds and the quality of education that Mr. Jefferson founded. She enjoys traveling the world with her family and notes, "On many of my trips around the world there is almost always someone that recognizes the V-sabres on our Virginia apparel." Her experiences abroad have proven to her that UVA is "world renowned for a good reason." Still an avid runner who enjoys the outdoors, Sheridan says, "I appreciated the breathtaking sights that Charlottesville had to offer." Donating to the Virginia Athletics Foundation has become a priority for Sheridan because she feels as though she owes it to the University for the time she had as a student-athlete. Sheridan chooses to specifically give back to the women's track and field Friends Of program because it is near and dear to her heart and she wants the young women today to have an even greater experience than she enjoyed.
