getting to know THIRD-YEAR HIGH JUMPER PEARL BICKERSTETH motto of third-year Pearl Bickersteth, who's excel- ling in the high jump for Virginia. Bickersteth set a personal record of five feet, nine inches when she placed fourth at the Penn State National Invitational in January. The Dumfries, Va., native ranked fourth in the ACC and 48th nation- ally, as of late February, with her mark of 5-9. She is tied for seventh on UVa's all-time list with Kate Doyle, who achieved the feat in 1990.
