VAF WELCOMES BACK PAST BOARD VAF MEMBER OF THE GAME PRESIDENTS The Virginia Athletics Foundation wel- comed back 13 of its 26 former presidents of the Board of Trustees on Saturday, Feb. 18. The past presidents and members of their families enjoyed a lunch buffet in the Tip Off Club at John Paul Jones Arena just prior to the Maryland versus Virginia men's basketball game. Coach Jason Wil- liford shared a glimpse into the game with a brief chalk talk. VAF Executive Director Dirk Katstra introduced the past presi- dents and expressed his appreciation for their leadership and long time support of the Foundation. Past presidents who attended were: Rudy Austin, Roanoke, Va. Vic Dandridge, Charlottesville, Va. Jane Dittmar, Charlottesville, Va. Heywood Fralin, Roanoke, Va. Hank Frazier, Keswick, Va. Billy Hunt, Lynchburg, Va. Jack Rader, Troutville, Va. Bob Butcher, Richmond, Va. Jim Candler, Lynchburg, Va. David Carr, Charlottesville, Va. Lindsay Wortham, Richmond, Va. Mike Turner, Livingston, N.J. Ken White, Lynchburg, Va. The Virginia Athletics Foundation created a new program — Members of the Game — to recognize those individuals who support the work of the Foundation. Beginning this past football season, members were selected randomly to capture a snapshot of our donor base and the various ways they support the athletics program. Among those who have been selected as Members of the Game are donors with a history of loyal support, first time donors, and donors who contribute to the annual campaign, facilities, "Friends of" and endowment giving. We also recognize donors who are long time season ticket holders. Members received on-field recognition at the football games including an appearance on Hoo Vision, and were recognized in the Game Day program. During basketball, mem- bers were given complimentary passes to the pre-game Tip-off Club event, recognized on Hoo Vision during a timeout and received tickets to sit courtside during the game. We will continue to recognize Members of the Game throughout the baseball season. Nearly 9,000 donors annually support the University of Virginia student-athlete experi- ence by investing in scholarships, facilities, endowments and the operational budgets of each of our 25 teams.
