cavalier profile LAUREN GREENLIEF Fourth-Year • Golf Around Grounds at the University of Virginia, students challenge themselves scholarship offers from numerous smaller schools, she walked on to the UVa golf team as a first-year and in this, her fourth year, is team captain. With everything on her plate, Greenlief relishes her role as captain. "It is really a unique leadership position since golf is an individual sport, and we have to adapt it to a team sport," she described. "The challenge is to get every- every day to meet the rigorous academic demands that Thomas Jefferson en- visioned for his institution. Mr. Jefferson would be very proud to count Cavalier golfer Lauren Greenlief among those students. In four years, the Oakton, Va., native has maximized every opportunity and body working toward that one goal even though we are playing our own game — we are still functioning as a team and supporting our teammates. Last summer, the Echols Scholar became the first player to win the Virginia " then some on her way to a double major in math and economics and a master's degree in commerce from the prestigious McIntire School of Commerce. Yes, all in a mere four years. "I learned to stay on top of my schoolwork, get things done early and sched- ule myself well," she explained. "Transitioning to the Commerce school and the master's program has been a little more challenging with all of the group work." Yet, the ambitious Greenlief would not have had it any other way. Despite Women's Stroke Play Championship three consecutive years. After graduation, Greenlief will begin a new chapter as a management and strategy consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Even with her new career, Greenlief will continue to find time to play golf, particularly with her father. "He plays more golf than anyone I know. When I go home now I still love to go play with my dad; he is still a big influence in my golf game. "
