50 ■ THE WOLFPACKER WOLFPACK FOOTBALL — and offered his own coaching tips along the way. Belichick also scrutinized running backs Nyheim Hines and Jaylen Samuels. Former NC State pros Dewayne Wash- ington and Torry Holt, and current Ari- zona Cardinals quarterback Mike Glennon also were there. It was all part of a festive pro day for NC State, which had a school-record seven players invited to the NFL Combine. It's a day that Doeren has long envi- sioned for his program. "Instead of having to talk about what you want to be able to do, it's the ability to show it," Doeren said. "Our team is see- ing these guys train with Coach Belichick, the best in the business, watching them. I think it just adds credibility to what we're talking about. "You don't want to have to explain a blueprint to people that you can't visually show them. … This is proof." Doeren watched a group of seniors and juniors that bought into the culture he has been hoping to establish. "It's very rewarding," Doeren added. "Our culture, we talk about really un- entitling people and teaching them the value of earning what you're going to get because that's how life is. No one gives you anything. "For me it's like a proud dad standing there watching your sons and seeing them really take advantage of their skill set and the opportunities that they've had. Op- portunities are not given, they're earned." Parking Changes Coming For Football Games What used to be the Trinity and TX park- ing lots for football games could soon be a construction zone for what will be a three- story apartment complex of 174 units lo- cated in 21 buildings. The parking lots provided about 1,500 parking spots for NC State fans, but Land- mark Properties, based in Atlanta, brought the 18-plus acres, and the Wolfpack Club announced that neither lot was expected to be available for parking for the seven home games on NC State's schedule in 2018. Parking will be further tightened by the construction of a tunnel underneath Trinity Road that will connect the state fairgrounds with the Carter-Finley parking lots. The North Carolina Department of Transpor- tation began construction on the project in March and hopes to be completed by Sept. 15. About 50 parking spaces will not be available for the first few games of the season in the Southeast Parking Lot, which is between Gate A and Gate B along Trin- ity Road. ■ New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick (right) was an active participant at NC State's pro day March 26.
