www.BLUEANDGOLD.com NOV. 19, 2018 9 UNDER THE DOME 2 Runs from the line of scrimmage Notre Dame had from 1907-2014 that covered more than 90 yards: 92 by Bob Livingstone at USC in 1947 and 91 by Larry Coutre versus Navy in 1949. In the four seasons since 2015, Notre Dame has had three: 97 by senior Dexter Williams this year at Virginia Tech, and then two in 2015 by Josh Adams (98 versus Wake Forest) and C.J. Prosise (91 versus Georgia Tech). 5 All five starters on Notre Dame's reigning national champion and preseason No. 1 women's basketball team — fifth-year senior Brianna Turner, seniors JESSICA SHEPARD, Arike Ogunbowale and Marina Mabrey, plus junior Jackie Young — were named to the 25-person preseason watch list for the Wooden Award, which is given to the nation's top player. Connecticut had three, and Baylor, Mississippi State, Oregon and Stanford had two apiece. Head coach Muffet McGraw's Fighting Irish had more than the other 14 teams in the ACC (four) combined. 17-6-3 Record the Irish have, combined, in the old Yankee Stadium and now the new one, where it will play again versus Syracuse Nov. 17. Notre Dame and Syracuse faced each other once before in the old Yankee Stadium, a 14-7 Orange victory on Nov. 28, 1963 (Thanksgiving Day) that dropped the Irish to a final record of 2-7. In the old Yankee Stadium, Notre Dame also was 14-5-3 versus Army from 1925-69 and 1-0 against North Carolina. In the new Yankee Stadium, it defeated Army 27-3 in the 2010 Shamrock Series and Rutgers 29-16 in the 2013 Pinstripe Bowl. 20.5 Points Alabama would be favored by against Notre Dame, according to the Las Vegas odds makers, if the two were to meet in the College Football Playoff. Against the other two CFP teams as of the weekend of Nov. 10, the Crimson Tide would be favored by 14 against Michigan and 8.5 versus Clemson. The Vegas line also has Alabama as an early 13.5-point favorite versus Georgia in the Dec. 1 Southeastern Conference title game. 36-38 Free throws made and attempted (94.7 percent) by Notre Dame in the 84-67 opening game victory versus Illinois-Chicago Nov. 6. The Fighting Irish were No. 1 in the 15-team ACC each of the last two seasons with percentages of 75.8 (2017-18) and 80.0 (2016-17) — the latter mark also leading the nation that year. 300 Victories at Notre Dame recorded by 14th-year hockey head coach Jeff Jackson following a 2-1 win versus Ohio State Nov. 3. Jackson, who has led Notre Dame to four Frozen Four berths, two of them the past two seasons, was 300-180-55 (482-232-80 overall) entering the Nov. 9-10 weekend series at Michigan. He was last year's recipient of the Spencer Penrose Award, presented to the top NCAA hockey coach. The 535 games he has coached at Notre Dame trail only Charles "Lefty" Smith, who led in 571 from 1968-87 while going 257-288-26. 2002 The last time a freshman men's basketball player (center Torin Francis) started in the opener for Notre Dame — until guard Robby Carmody ended that 16-year streak by starting against Illinois-Chicago in the 84-67 victory Nov. 6. Carmody finished with 11 points and four rebounds in 14 minutes of action, which tied for the eighth most on the team in that game. Classmate and forward Nate Laszewski was the leading scorer (12 points) and rebounder (nine) on a night when the four freshmen — including Dane Goodwin and Prentiss Hubb — combined for 38 points and 18 rebounds. 77,000 Square feet of athletic training, strength and conditioning, practice courts and team offices for the Irish men's and women's basketball teams at the new practice facility home, Rolfs Athletics Hall. The teams have practiced there since October and the facility will be completed in mid-November. ✦ BY THE NUMBERS PHOTO BY JOE RAYMOND
