hoo's talking "We are very excited about this group of women. We have definitely improved our team and are lucky enough to have three of the top 25 swimmers in the world at their age. We have found young women who are not only talented swimmers, but who are also excellent students and have very strong leadership skills and personal character traits. We think this is a special class that can help us move forward in the national rankings and remain one of the elite programs in the country." — Women's swimming and diving coach Mark Bernardino on his group of eight early signees, each of whom has competed at their country's Olympic Trials or been named an All-American, for the 2013-14 season "Our players and coaches are looking forward to the upcoming 2013 season. We have many exciting ACC opponents, as well as challenging non-conference games. Our home schedule will allow Cavalier fans to once again experience some great baseball at Davenport Field." — Baseball coach Brian O'Connor on his team's 2013 schedule, a 54-game slate that includes games against 21 programs that reached the 2012 NCAA Tournament "Caroline Miller had a remarkable career and had brilliant performances against the University of North Carolina, scoring in almost every game she played against us." — North Carolina women's soccer coach Anson Dorrance on the Virginia fourth-year, who was named second runner-up for the 2012 Hermann Trophy, which is annually presented by the coaches to the best female player; Miller, who was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-American, was the first finalist for the award in program history photo courtesy UVa
