Morris has seen extended action at shooting guard, and the former second-round pick is holding his own. Morris was averaging 4.8 points, 1.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game through 37 games (17 starts), and is taking pride in his defense. "The biggest thing we're trying to teach him is to slow down," head coach D'Antoni told the Los Angeles Times after Morris hit four of six shots in a December win over Portland. "He contributed offensively, which is found money. He can do that." D'Antoni has even asked Morris to check the New York Knicks' standout Carmelo Anthony to help save star guard Kobe Bryant's legs. "I'm really blessed to have a coach that even would do that on a big stage, to have confidence in me," Morris said.
