michigan recruiting Miscellaneous Notes • Poggi is solid. Rumors abounded at the Under Armour All-America Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., Jan. 4, that Baltimore Gilman four-star defensive tackle Henry Poggi may reconsider his commitment to Michigan and explore Alabama as an option. Poggi, whose friend and former teammate Cyrus Jones was a freshman wideout in Tuscaloosa this fall, has been solidly committed to Michigan since June 4. The rumored trip to Alabama never took place, and Poggi is expected to sign with Michigan without any further drama. • Six Enrolled. Six of Michigan's 2013 commitments enrolled on campus in January, and have already begun life as Wolverines. Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis offensive lineman Kyle Bosch, Pickerington (Ohio) North tight end Jake Butt, Pickerington (Ohio) Central defensive end Taco Charlton, Avon (Ohio) cornerback Ross Douglas, Alliance (Ohio) Marlington safety Dymonte Thomas and Peoria (Ill.) Manual offensive lineman Logan Tuley-Tillman are going HARRIS through workouts with the team and will participate in spring practice. Three of those players will count toward the 2012 recruiting class, allowing the 2013 group to expand to 28 players, rather than the NCAA-mandated maximum of 25 players counting as scholarship athletes in fall practice. • Morris a four-star. Warren (Mich.) De La Salle quarterback Shane Morris, who had previously been rated as a five-star player by Rivals.com, dropped in the most recent set of rankings. He is now ranked as a four-star recruit, the No. 1 player in Michigan, the No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the country and the No. 81 overall senior nationally. • Webb off the board. Detroit Cass Tech cornerback Damon Webb was expected to be one of Michigan's top targets in the 2014 recruiting class, but the opportunity for U‑M to land him has apparently passed. The four-star committed to Ohio State Jan. 13 and does not expect to take visits to any other colleges. At 5-11, 170 pounds, Webb is one of the top three in-state players for the class of 2014. • Harris back on the board. Grand Rapids (Mich.) Christian wide receiver Drake Harris made a two-sport commitment to Michigan State in the summer, pledging to play wide receiver for the Spartans' football team and small forward on the basketball court. However, he has decided to only play football in college, opening up his recruitment to all schools interested in him for that sport. He is expected to strongly consider Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State along with the Spartans. He does not have a timeline for a final decision.
