TM Noting The Pack • Tragedy struck head coach Page Marsh and Wolfpack athletics on the third day of the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colo., this fall. Marsh's husband, former longtime NCSU men's soc- cer coach George Tarantini, suffered a heart attack and passed away Sept. 25 at age 70. The couple had been together for 18 years. Sometimes Marsh will find little notes that the women on the team will leave for her or offer their time and assistance. "They are a squad that I feel lucky to coach," Marsh said. "They are very giving and super sup - portive. They check on you. They are a very loving group." Marsh will miss having Tarantini as her rock, both in coaching and in life. "He was a great mentor," Marsh said. "In retire- ment, he really coached me and helped me think about things and be the best coach I could be for everybody. He certainly helped each of my players if they needed help. "He would always say, 'I do this for you.' To have that champion by your side is powerful. He had a great heart of service and we respected each other." • The ACC has three programs ranked in the top 25 by GolfStat.com through Nov. 26 — Wake Forest at No. 4, followed by Duke at No. 12 and Virginia Tech at No. 22. Wake Forest finished tied for No. 14, Miami was No. 21, Virginia was tied for No. 22 and Clemson checked in at No. 24. "Wake Forest is always strong and so is Duke, who is rebuilding," Marsh said.
