inside michigan athletics do. It's very fascinating." Tobel has been able to work in labs, study animals and work with real doctors — she is spending her summer working at a dermatologist's office — and have incredible scientific experiences. "I came to Michigan for school, and I feel like I have gotten everything out of it that I wanted," Tobel said. "But I can't imagine this place without the track team." Tobel's father, Kevin, convinced her to try to walk on as a pole vaulter. She made the team and has slowly climbed the ranks from redshirt to contributor to asset. Last season, Tobel was a team captain and set school records in indoor (1310½) and outdoor (13-11¼) competition. "It is crazy to look back and see how much progress I have made since I joined the team," Tobel said. "When I first started pole vaulting, I thought it would just be something fun to do. Now, I love it. I love all the hard work, the competition, being able to track your improvements. "I could have graduated last year, but I wanted to come back and finish it with a big year. I have a few important classes, but this year, I want to just work hard and have fun at pole vaulting." Tobel is starting to look at graduate schools. Michigan does not offer a graduate degree in the program she is looking for, but she is applying to several Big Ten schools and others in Michigan, such as Wayne State and Detroit Mercy. — Andy Reid TheWolverine.com's Facebook Feed Michigan fans can find The Wolverine on Facebook at: Facebook.com/ TheWolverineMagazine. This month we asked followers which current player should be awarded Tom Harmon's No. 98 Legends Jersey during an in-season ceremony this fall? Andrew Patten: "Quinton Washington." Muhammad At-Tauhidi: "Sophomore Dennis Norfleet simply because at this point he has played (almost) as many positions as Harmon did." Tom Armetta: "Personally, I'd like to see the numbers stay retired and showcased on the suites inside The Big House." Marshall Wickman: "I think it should go to the best all-around player. Maybe the top running back or top receiver." Christian Felan: "Taylor Lewan is the only dude they have on the All-American lists." Mike Skobrak: "No one. His is an immortal number." Geary Weaver: "I don't think a running back can wear No. 98 so it has to be a defensive player."
