We have an incredible staff all the way around. They're the best in the world as far as I'm concerned." Bravo-Young said each wrestler has his own relationship with Sanderson. "Cael doesn't say too much. He doesn't like to talk … I give him a little bit of trash talk," he said. "He's not used to it. I mess around with him. "Cael and I have a different kind of relationship; he's helped me grow a lot. And he's the best, pretty much plain and simple. Anyone can say what they want, but he finds a way to get us ready at the end." Starocci noted that there were several reasons he chose Penn State. "I want to be the best wrestler in the world. I want to be the best version of myself," he said. "And I believe those coaches cannot only help me be a better wrestler, the coaches hold you to a high standard off the mat, too, which helps you grow as a person. That's the bigger picture. "This is what I trained for. This is why we do it. We don't come here to not win." As far as Dean, the new guy, is con- cerned, he wanted a fresh start, and it wasn't all because of wrestling. "It's the best choice I've made," Dean said. "I remember thinking before the season even started, if I don't start, if I don't ever win a match, I'm just lucky to be here because [the Penn State coaches'] perspective on life is why they're so suc- cessful. "You talk about what integrity is; integrity is having values and sticking to them even when it's uncomfortable. That's the type of guys they are." Starocci, Brooks and Dean will be in the Nittany Lion lineup again next sea- son. Bravo-Young proclaimed last fall that this season likely was his last, that he would pursue the fighting circuit. Now he says he's not so sure a return isn't out of the question. Lee is done. He spent six years in the program, and Sanderson said earlier this season that he "didn't want to think about losing a guy like Nick Lee." Third Place Medical forfeit (not a loss) — — in Detroit, Sanderson was asked what he would tell his athletes who are leaving and who have meant so much to the program. "Good job. Good job," he said with all sincerity. "Relationships continue on. You just get the time that you're allotted, and you use it. Sometimes you take advantage of it. Sometimes you don't. It's all just experience. But when your time is up, you move on to the next challenge." Because the most recent challenge has been met. ■
