C O M K eyvone Lee arrived at Penn State three years ago as a four-star re- cruit out of American Collegiate Academy in Clearwater, Fla., with hopes of quickly ascending the Nittany Lions' running backs depth chart. Through a lot of hard work, a good bit of persistence, and a recognition that posi- tion coach Ja'Juan Seider had his best in- terests in mind as a prospect and later as a PSU player, that's exactly what happened. The 6-foot, 234-pound Lee, now a third-year sophomore, is the leading man and elder statesman of a running back corps that includes two other veterans and a pair of standout freshmen. Lee is embracing his role as leader and said he believes all five scholarship players — himself, fourth-year junior Devyn Ford, redshirt sophomore Caziah Holmes, and freshmen Nick Singleton and Kaytron Al- len — are capable of starting. In his mind, that is one of the ways Penn State will fix a rushing attack that last year was one of the Big Ten's worst. "We're all different parts, and we just come together and make the whole car go," Lee said. "We all, together, make each other go. Some days, I'm the old head of the group, but I say if I'm down, Nick or Kaytron or Caz, they'll come pick me up and make sure I'm good. "There are some days when they're down, and we pick them up. We have this brotherhood and family. We've all got each other, and we all just help each other." Another way Penn State plans to im- prove its ground game is through an at- titude adjustment that pertains not just to the running backs but to the team as a whole. Lee has so far been a part of two sea- sons that yielded a disap- pointing 11-11 combined record.
