The Irish ran the same play to Estime four times in a row to cap the drive. Stats: Notre Dame outgained Cal 92-57 in total yards. Five of the Irish's seven first downs came on the ground. Notre Dame did not punt in the third quarter. Items: Isaiah Foskey and Jayson Ademilola were injured for the Irish at various points during a Cal touchdown drive ... Notre Dame stuck to the run and faced a third-and-5 from the Cal 29 when the quarter finished. FOURTH QUARTER NOTRE DAME 24, CALIFORNIA 17 Top Moment: A Hail Mary from Cal bounced around a few too many times for comfort from an Irish perspective before finally falling the ground with 0:00 on the clock; it took until the very last play of the game for Notre Dame to earn its first victory of the season. Feature Performer: Pyne com- pleted 3 passes in a row for 48 yards to give Notre Dame the lead with 9:16 left. He connected with Mayer from 6 yards out to give the Irish a lead they would not relinquish. Stats: Notre Dame outscored Cal 10-0 and outgained the Bears 87-55 in total yards. Cal went 0 of 5 on third down. Notre Dame recorded 4 of its 6 sacks in the fourth quarter.
