44 SEPT. 24, 2022 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY MIKE SINGER I t's hard to only choose six for this article. There are so many viable candidates, but the players listed above are among the most impor- tant Irish targets for the 2024 cycle, per Blue & Gold Illustrated sources. Here's a look at those prospects (commits are not included). KALEB BEASLEY CB • 6-0½, 180 NASHVILLE (TENN.) LIPSCOMB ACADEMY On3 Rankings: Four-star re- cruit, No. 4 prospect in Tennessee, and No. 26 cornerback and No. 210 overall player nationally. The Skinny: Notre Dame needs to keep improving on the perim- eter and Beasley is one of the best cornerbacks in his class. A fluid, lock-down cornerback with twitchy athleticism, he's a highly coveted prospect and one who will only see his recruitment blow up more in the coming months. Notre Dame got on him early, has hosted him on campus a couple times already and will need him to visit as much as possible to win the recruit- ment. Georgia, LSU and Tennessee are a few other contenders for Beasley. GUERBY LAMBERT OT • 6-7, 285 WEST ROXBURY (MASS.) CATHOLIC MEMORIAL On3 Rankings: Four-star prospect, No. 1 player in Massachusetts, and No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 12 overall re- cruit nationally. The Skinny: Notre Dame has only offered four offensive linemen in the 2024 class and Malvern (Pa.) Prep's Pe- ter Jones, who committed to the Irish in August, is one of them. Lambert is another, and sources tell us that he's a huge priority for the Irish — and likely the top tackle target on the board. Lambert hasn't visited Notre Dame yet and hasn't been able to hit the road much at all during his recruitment. But once he's able to get out to South Bend, we believe that Notre Dame will be in a great spot to land him. BREDELL RICHARDSON WR • 6-0, 190 TAMPA (FLA.) CARROLLWOOD DAY On3 Rankings: Four-star talent, No. 25 recruit in Florida, and No. 18 wide receiver and No. 142 overall player nationally. The Skinny: Florida is considered the early team to beat for Richardson, but we're of the belief that Notre Dame has as good of a chance as any school to land the talented pass catcher. He's vis- ited nearby Florida the most, but he had a great visit to South Bend in June and will likely make it back to campus soon. Irish receivers coach Chansi Stuckey has done well in the recruitment thus far. ELIJAH RUSHING EDGE • 6-6, 225 TUCSON (ARIZ.) SALPOINTE CATHOLIC On3 Rankings: Four-star recruit, No. 2 player in Arizona, and No. 2 edge and No. 7 overall prospect nationally. The Skinny: Notre Dame of- fered Rushing earlier this year, hosted him on campus in the spring and is hoping to get him back on campus this fall. He is coveted by a handful of power- house programs; Georgia, Or- egon and USC are just a few to mention. He's a Florida Gators legacy who has traveled to see schools from coast to coast. We don't be- lieve proximity to home will be a factor, so Notre Dame has a real chance to land this young man. RYAN WINGO WR • 6-2, 198 ST. LOUIS UNIVERSITY HIGH O n 3 R a n k i n gs : Fo u r- s ta r prospect, No. 1 recruit in Mis- souri, and No. 3 wide receiver and No. 14 overall player nationally. The Skinny: Blue & Gold Il- lustrated has a prediction logged for the elite prospect to end up choosing Notre Dame, but it's obviously not a guarantee to happen. We do believe strongly that Notre Dame was the leader for Wingo coming out of the summer, but he was just at Ohio State to see the Buckeyes beat the Irish and Miami has impressed him as well. PEYTON WOODYARD S • 6-1, 190 BELLFLOWER (CALIF.) ST. JOHN BOSCO On3 Rankings: Four-star talent, No. 4 player in California, and No. 6 safety and No. 65 overall prospect nationally. T he Skinny: Sources have told Blue & Gold Illustrated that Ohio State is likely the leader for Woodyard, but Notre Dame is right there battling. USC can't be counted out for him either. Woodyard has made the trek out to South Bend three times already and loves the coaching staff. He's a cousin of former Irish safety Kyle Hamilton, which definitely doesn't hurt matters. Notre Dame will be a major factor in Woodyard's recruitment to the end, but it won't be an easy one to win. ✦ Six Key Targets For Notre Dame's 2024 Recruiting Class More playmakers on the outside are needed to boost Notre Dame's offense, and the staff would love to add Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day's Bredell Richardson. He is the No. 18 wide receiver and No. 142 overall recruit in the 2024 class per On3. PHOTO COURTESY ON3.COM
