www.BLUEANDGOLD.com OCT. 22, 2022 51 PREP PROFILES Nine Notre Dame commits were in Las Vegas to watch the Irish knock off BYU 28-20 in Allegiant Stadium Oct. 8, in- cluding Lake Stevens (Wash.) High class of 2023 running back Jayden Limar. "It was great," Limar told Blue & Gold Illustrated. "It wasn't their home sta- dium but seeing how many people they had out there was crazy. It was packed. It was really cool to see how well their fans traveled. I loved it." A running back prospect such as Limar had to like what he saw — Notre Dame ran for 234 yards, and all three Irish run- ning backs had at least 11 carries. "It was definitely cool seeing those three and how they were rotating fresh guys in," Limar said. The four-star prospect's recruitment isn't completely shut down despite his Notre Dame commitment that he gave at the end of May. He's visited Washington this fall, went to Arizona a few weeks back and will likely get to Oregon, too. Limar's younger brother, Jayshon, is a class of 2025 running back with offers from Washington State, Arizona State and Arizona. He's also getting interest from a handful of other Pac-12 schools as well. So, a big part of Limar's visits to other schools is because of trips for his younger brother, and he's communicat- ing with the Notre Dame staff about it all. "I let them know," Limar explained. "I have a little brother who is getting recruited, so I let them know I'm going with him and that I'm still solid with them. They respect it. "I'm solid with them unless they show me I shouldn't be. I'm good. Re- cruiting is crazy and you never know what can happen so you need backups, but at the end of the day, I'm committed to them and that's where my mind's at." Even with the visits to other programs and Notre Dame recruiting other ball car- riers, the Irish should still be considered the big favorites to sign him in December. "They still talk to me the same amount they did before I committed," Limar said regarding his contact with the staff. "Be- fore I committed, it was mainly Coach [Marcus] Freeman recruiting me, but now it's a lot more of Coach [Deland] McCullough and Coach Chad [Bowden]. That's the only difference." — Mike Singer Saturday, Sept. 10 was a busy day for Ponte Vedra Beach (Fla.) Ponte Vedra class of 2024 offensive lineman Jake Guarnera, who visited Notre Dame and Michigan on the same day. He got to South Bend around 10:30 a.m. ET to take in pregame recruiting festivities and then watch Notre Dame's home opener against Marshall, which unfortunately for the Irish resulted in a 26-21 defeat. He drove to Michigan to see the Wolverines blow out lowly Hawaii that night. Guarnera walked through what the Notre Dame pregame portion of the visit looked like. "I got my measurements and regis- tration done, then I had a photo shoot," he said. "We had lunch after that, and then one of the player parents spoke to the recruits about their son playing for Notre Dame and how it is as a parent. "The player walk was after that — seeing the guys walk up to the stadium. We were on the field before the game and talked to some of the coaches." Guarnera got to speak with Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hies- tand before the game. And as seen in the photo above, he also met with Irish head coach Marcus Freeman. "We were catching up on some things," Guarnera noted. "He said that he was definitely going to watch my film. They said they know I'm a good Notre Dame fit and are looking forward to watching more of me." The 6-4, 290-pounder doesn't hold an offer from the Irish yet but hopes it comes his way soon. To this date, Notre Dame has only offered four offensive line- man in the 2024 class, and it's been several months since Hiestand and Co. offered a player in the junior class. They're cer- tainly taking their time with the cycle. "Yeah it would," Guarnera said when asked if an Irish offer would be a big deal to him. "Notre Dame has sent so many offensive lineman to the league, and Coach Hiestand is supposed to be the godfather of the offensive line. I also love Notre Dame's campus and the en- vironment they have there." Guarnera also visited Notre Dame back in July. He's kept in contact with assistant offensive line coach Chris Watt and ana- lyst Caleb Davis. He plans to visit Penn State Oct. 22 when the Nittany Lions host Minnesota and Florida State when the Florida Gators come to Tallahassee. Guarnera holds offers from North Carolina State, Florida, Florida State, Michigan and Penn State. — Mike Singer Irish Battling To Keep Washington Back Locked In Notre Dame Evaluating 2024 Florida Offensive Lineman JAYDEN LIMAR ✪ ✪ ✪ Lake Stevens H.S.
