North Oconee class of 2023 athlete Khalil Barnes. While he's ranked as the nation's No. 79 cornerback per On3, Blue & Gold Illus- trated understands that the Irish staff is recruiting the 6-1, 185-pounder as a wide receiver. Barnes is not a top-of-the-board target at this time with Notre Dame is focusing on Hayward (Calif.) Tennyson wide re- ceiver Taeshaun Lyons and Portsmouth (Va.) Churchland athlete Brandyn Hill- man for remaining spots, but if the Irish don't land one of those two, the staff could turn up the heat on Barnes. Barnes, who was previously commit- ted to Wake Forest, holds offers from Clemson, Purdue, Duke, Kansas State and Georgia Tech. The Tigers are consid- ered the team to beat for now. • Notre Dame was expected to host Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South's Chris Terek, who is On3's No. 9 player in Il- linois and No. 50 interior offensive line- man nationally, during the weekend of the Stanford game. Terek has been com- mitted to Wisconsin since the end of June but the Badgers fired Paul Chryst, leaving the program without a head coach. Notre Dame would be tough to beat for the 6-6, 295-pounder if it offers. • Notre Dame was also expected to host Charlotte (N.C.) Christian class of 2024 defensive end Bryce Young dur- ing the Stanford weekend. Young, who holds early offers from Duke and Notre Dame, is the son of Fighting Irish legend Bryant Young. The 6-4, 215-pounder is currently unranked. — Mike Singer Follow @MikeTSinger on Twitter for recruiting updates! Notre Dame has an early offer out to Charlotte (N.C.)
