DECEMBER 2022 THE WOLVERINE 13   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS A key member of the backfield, junior Rosie Hope helped lead her team to a 2022 Big Ten Tournament Championship and the No. 4 over- all seed in the NCAA Tournament. Ahead of the NCAA Tournament, she had posted 2 goals and 2 assists, while playing a crucial role in the Wolver- ines giving up a Big Ten-best 0.89 goals per game. She had played the second-most minutes of any player on the team (1,018). Here are some facts about Hope that you may not have known: Best Aspect Of Being From England: "Every- one loves my accent. That's kind of nice, although most people just like making fun of it." Best Meal She Can Cook By Herself: "A weird pasta; it's really simple, but it's peas, parmesan cheddar and vegetable stock. It was a recipe that my dad taught me to make when I was younger." Favorite Restaurant In Ann Arbor: "Mama Sotto. I love sushi." Favorite Professional Athlete: "When I was younger, Jonny Wilkinson. He's a rugby player that used to play in England a long time ago. He was a very passionate athlete." Spor t She Enjoys Playing Besides Field Hockey: "Pregame, we do a lot of soccer, and that's my favorite pregame activity. I played a bit at school when I was younger and a little bit at club." Favorite Movie: "James Bond, or any action movie, really." Favorite Television Show: "'Grey's Anatomy,' an all-time favorite, and 'How I Met Your Mother.'" Why She Chose Michigan: "Once I visited Michigan, they took me to one of the football games, and I met all the [field hockey] team and stayed in the dorms for the night. Everyone was so nice, and the atmosphere at the football game made me decide that I wanted to go to a big school where they have a big atmosphere around the sports and they love the whole cul- ture around sports, because you don't really get that in England." What She Hopes To Do After Michigan: "I'm majoring in BCN, which is biopsychology, cogni- tion and neuroscience in LSA, and I'm also doing pre-med. I want to eventually go to med school and work in a hospital [in either the United King- dom or the United States]. Favorite Memory At Michigan: "My freshman year, when we played in North Carolina for the Final Four weekend. The semifinals, I just remember the feeling of winning that game [against Louisville]. All of the supporters that came down to visit, it was also the first time I was like, 'OK, this is the feel- ing that I wanted to get on that day on my official [visit] that made me want to go to this school.'" Overall Experience At Michigan: "I've loved my whole three years here. Right from when I was on campus, I made friends so quickly with the field hockey team. Classes, ev- eryone is really supportive — my professors. Everyone has pitched in to make the whole experience both memorable and a lot of fun." — Clayton Sayfie Hope earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2021.
