SUMMER 2024 3 Warm Summer Greetings! What an incredible time it is to be a Wahoo fan! The spring se- mester was filled with widespread success as all spring sports were not only ranked in the top 25 at the same time, but many went on to have deep postseason runs, highlighted by: ∙ Women's Swim & Dive: won their fourth consecutive National Championship ∙ Baseball: returned to Omaha for the fourth time in seven years ∙ Men's Lacrosse: advanced it to the Final Four ∙ Men's Golf: punched their ticket to match play for the second year in row ∙ Men's Track & Field: not only winning an ACC championship but having an individual national champion while the team finished 8th in the country ∙ Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis and Women's Lacrosse: made it to the Elite 8 All these incredible on-field accomplishments were achieved while UVA student-ath- letes had amazing success in the classroom as well. All 27 UVA varsity sport programs earned a team GPA of 3.0 or better. UVA will be receiving abundant media coverage this summer at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The USA Women's Swim & Dive team will be filled with current and former UVA swimmers and also coached by UVA's Swim & Dive Head Coach, Todd DeSorbo. Two Virginia Women's Tennis alumnae will also be representing Team USA, and several other current and former UVA student-athletes are in the running for roster spots across various Olympic sports. June 6 was a monumental day in UVA Athletics history with the topping out of the Olympic Sports Complex and grand opening of the 93,000-square-foot Molly and Robert Hardie Foot- ball Operations Center. This new facility will provide Virginia Football with the infrastructure to house, train and fuel its student-athletes for success on the field, and also help recruit and retain the nation's best student-athletes for years to come. The topping out of the Olympic Sports Complex was a celebration of the final beam being placed atop of the new facility that will house several Olympic sport programs and is set to open in the summer of 2025. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the ongoing gener- osity of VAF donors like yourself. College athletics is an ever-changing landscape, but one thing remains constant: the passion that VAF donors have for this remarkable institution and its desire to be elite in everything that it offers. The launch of the Sabre Society provides donors with the oppor- tunity to make a meaningful impact on areas that are of greatest interest, enjoy a wide array of stewardship benefits, and ensure the necessary resources are in place for UVA student-athletes and coaches to achieve success at the highest levels. Given the changes that are transpiring in college athletics, such as the new Virginia NIL state law that goes into effect July 1 and the NCAA's House Settlement proposal, we need your continued support now more than ever to ensure that UVA remains amongst the nation's elite. Charitable giving has and always will be an endorsement of the mis- sion, services and priorities that help define UVA. Your contribution helps us uphold a rich tradition of excellence we've enjoyed on Grounds and empower our student-athletes to achieve their highest potential as scholar-athletes. In a turbulent period for intercol- legiate athletics, I take great comfort and reassurance in UVA's greatest natural resource: the collective loyalty and incredible generosity shown by our alumni, fans, and friends over the years. Together, we will continue to shape the future of our athletics program. I encourage you to demonstrate your love for UVA Athletics by making your gift today and reaching out to the VAF staff to learn more about opportunities to match your pas- sions with our evolving priorities in the months ahead. Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration and ongoing support for UVA Athletics. Go Hoos! Kevin J.
