Bredeson and Michigan's offensive line plan to crush all the negative talk, while not getting ahead of themselves. "It's day to day," Bredeson said. "We don't need to prove anyone else wrong. We're proving ourselves right. We've got to work and create an image that we de- sire, and we're going to earn everything we can through the work ethic we have each day." It's about keeping the focus tight, the senior assured. "You don't want to think too big pic- ture," he explained. "That's what can get you beat — thinking about the next game or something way down the road. We know that if we work as hard as we can today and whatever we can control right now, that's led to our success. Our suc- cess hasn't come from thinking about the national championship in Au- gust. It's thinking about how good can this practice be. "We're not really focused on all the down-the-road stuff. We know what we have down the road. We understand it. I think right now, our team is just focused on Day 1 at camp, and being the best we can with that. We've got to get through fall camp, and Game 1 we've got Fresno State. We've got to take care of them and worry about that before we worry about anything else." Not surprisingly, Bredeson isn't one who minds the grind of camp. Sure, he wants to get to the games like anyone else. But he knows how the sausage is made. He knows what can take place when the sweat pours and the pads crack in August. "You find out a lot about the team, what you are," he said. "I love fall camp, because you get to see if your actions really match your words. You can talk all offseason about, this is how I'm go- ing to be — do we really see it? Can you be that same guy on Day 1, in shoulder pads and helmets as you are Day 16 in a three-hour practice? That's what I value about football. You can look deep within Head coach Sherrone Moore describes his senior tight end/fullback succinctly: "Max Bredeson is an absolute beast."
