20 MAY 2025 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED spring as a time they were thankful their coaches were aware of their personal situations and afforded them plans that allowed them to get back to tiptop play- ing shape at rates of progress that were conducive to them. And if someone else ends up beating any of them out for starting spots come go time, well, those players will have made the most of their increased op- portunities in the spring and parlayed them into top of the depth chart status in the fall. At the end of it all, everyone in the room is working toward the same goal — being the best possible versions of themselves for the betterment of Notre Dame football. "This was a spring where you really wanted to spend time thinking about what's the best plan? For once, the best plan was not all-encompassing," Rudolph said. "It may not involve ev- erybody. It might be more individual- ized. Having awareness for that, I think Coach Freeman did a great job." STANDOUTS AT SKILL SPOTS Some boxes don't need any checking because they've already been marked through. The Notre Dame offense has plenty of those. They start — and finish — with junior running back Jeremiyah Love. Er, junior wide receiver Jeremiyah Love? He spent much of the individual periods under the media's gaze this spring going through drills with Irish wideouts. In all seriousness, Love is still a tailback first and foremost. But he's good at more than just lining up behind or alongside the quarterback, including being one of the best running back route runners position coach Ja'Juan Seider has ever seen, so Notre Dame is tapping into all of that more than ever before. "He's got elite traits," Seider said. "He's got elite speed. He's got elite ball skills. He's got elite short-area quick- ness. He's got elite vision. So, use that recipe for success." If Notre Dame didn't have Jaden Greathouse, maybe the Irish would be thinking more seriously about using Love out wide more. But Notre Dame does have Greathouse, who notched 13 catches for 233 yards with 3 touchdowns in the two biggest games of the Irish's 2024 season, so it's a no-brainer for the team to invest heavily in the junior Quarterback No. Player Ht.
