Ba ketball Preview 2013-14 ■ Lennard Freeman 10 • PF Fr. • Washington, D.C. • 6-8 • 245 Analysis: From the descriptions of Freeman, he could help soften the loss of rebounder extraordinaire Richard Howell. The burly big man will likely have to play some minutes this season since NCSU is both thin and unproven in the paint, and Freeman could carve a role on the squad as a rebounder and post defender. Career Highlights: Selected to play in the Capital Classic all-star game after averaging 8.6 points and 9.8 rebounds at national high school basketball powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson,Va., as a senior … Was an all-conference selection as a junior at St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C., the last of two seasons he played there … Was a teammate of fellow classmate BeeJay Anya on Team Takeover in AAU. Coach's Corner: "Lennard has been a little bit of a surprise … in the workouts and those type of things, he's done very well. He's proven to us already that he's going to be a very good rebounder and a very good defender." — Head coach Mark Gottfried Personal: Enrolled in the First-Year College and has an interest in majoring in business management. Ten Questions With Lennard Freeman photo by ken martin Why did you choose No. 10? When I was little in elementary school, I had three best friends and we all played football. We would, make ourselves in Madden and whatever the number of our birthday was, that would be our number. I was born on Dec. 10, so ever since then, every jersey I've ever gotten has been No. 10. What's your favorite spot to shoot from on the court? I don't know if I want to say that because people might be scouting. I'm going to keep it a secret, but everybody will see it this year. Who was your favorite NBA team growing up? I didn't really watch the NBA, but I'm a hometown person, so I liked the Wizards. I didn't really watch the NBA then, though. If you could go back in history and meet any person from the past, who would it be? Martin Luther King Jr. Who has been your biggest role model in basketball? Kevin Durant, probably because he's from where I'm from. He's seen the things I've seen, and he's really good. Maybe one day, I could get like him and work as hard as him. Android or iPhone? iPhone. Where would be your dream vacation? I've been there before, but it would be Hawaii. That was nice, I'd love to go back. Who is the greatest basketball player of all time? Right now, it's Michael Jordan, but I think LeBron James is going to catch him. If you couldn't be a professional basketball player, what would you like to be when you finish college? I'm going to have my own club, right here in Raleigh. Who has the best Twitter handle on the team? I'd say Staats because his last name is Battle. That's nice having Battle as your last name. 50  ■  the wolfpacker 48-50,52,54,56,58-60,62,64,66.Men's Bios.indd 50 10/22/13 12:33 PM
