COMMITMENT PROFILE
end the recruiting process and is in
no hurry to repeat it again.
"People say to pick a school for
the school, not for a coach, and that's
what I set myself out to do," he explained. "Even if all of them leave,
Michigan's not going to get a bad
coach. I'm not worried about Michigan dying off. When Michigan offers, it's such a high level. It's kind of
hard to consider these other schools.
You almost think of them as like high
school football teams. At Michigan,
it's big-time football.
"Everybody's so worried about
college right now, sophomore and
junior year, that's all they have on
their mind. I can just focus on high
school now. It's a relief of stress."
Now that he has his college future
set, Swenson can work on improving
his game. His Downers Grove South
squad finished 6-4 this year, and the
Mustangs are looking to reach new
heights next season. Working with
his team and with Jones, Swenson
will do everything he can to continue
that improvement.
"We lost in the first round against
Naperville Central, and Naperville
Central is in the state championship,"
he said. "I think 18 of the 22 starters
that we had this year were juniors
or sophomores. We're going to be a
great team next year, and then my
senior year, you've got to look out for
us in the state championship."
Now that he's committed to become a Wolverine, Swenson's work
in the offseason will only help the
U-M program in the future.
