MICHIGAN BASKETBALL Ohio State's league-best 3.42. U-M led the Big Ten in three-pointers made per game (8.4), ahead of Michi- gan State (7.9) and Wisconsin (7.7). Individually, the rigors of the con- ference have taken their toll on some. Overall, though, the Wolverines are still showing well in a number of categories. • Sophomore guard Nik Stauskas fell from first to fifth in the Big Ten scoring race, his 16.7 points per game behind Indiana's Yogi Ferrell (17.9), Nebraska's Terran Petteway (17.7), Michigan State's Gary Harris (17.4) and Penn State's D.J. Newbill (17.4). Sophomores Caris LeVert and Glenn Robinson III stood 17th and 18th in Big Ten scoring with averages of 13.0 and 12.8, respectively. • The Wolverines featured no one on the Big Ten list of top 20 rebound- ers, while Indiana's Noah Vonleh paced the league with an average of 9.5. • Robinson and Stauskas were ninth and 12th, respectively, in Big Ten field goal percentage, at 48.6 and 48.1. Ohio State's Amir Williams led the league at 60.4. • Stauskas found himself just out- side the league's top 10 in average as- sists. He ranked 11th at 3.5 per game, with Penn State's Tim Frazier lead- ing the way at 5.9. Freshman Derrick Walton Jr. was tied for 13th, at 2.9. • Wisconsin's Ben Brust paced all free throw shooters in the league at 90.3 percent, while Stauskas stood sixth at 81.9 and LeVert eighth at 81.7. LeVert's 1.2 steals per game av- erage placed him 12th in the confer- ence, with Ohio State's Aaron Craft (92.5) leading the way. • Stauskas and Wisconsin's Josh Gasser paced the conference as its best three-point shooters, each knocking them down at 44.0 percent. U-M freshman Zak Irvin stood fourth (42.5 percent), while LeVert (40.2) was seventh and Walton (39.4) 10th. Stauskas averaged the third-most threes (2.3) per game in the league, behind Ferrell's conference-best 2.8. Irvin stood ninth at 1.8 and LeVert 15th at 1.6. • Stauskas posted an assist-to- turnover ratio of 1.8, good for ninth in the conference. Iowa's Mike Ges- sell led the way at 3.2. Stauskas was also third in the Big Ten in average minutes played (35.0), with LeVert seventh at 33.6. Northwestern's Drew Crawford ranked as the iron man, performing a league-most 36.1 minutes per contest. JOHN BEILEIN NOT IMPRESSED WITH OSU VIDEO John Beilein has a good word for most competitive aspects of Big Ten rivalries. He congratulated Indiana's Tom Crean at length following Mich- igan's loss at Bloomington this year, despite some Crean-created tension between the staffs a year earlier. Beilein also delivered high praise regarding how loud and forceful Ohio State fans were leading up to and dur- ing Michigan's 70-60 win at Value City Arena Feb. 11. He wasn't nearly as impressed by a pregame video about which he was informed later. The video, designed to skewer
