BASKETBALL RECRUITING venson withstood a furious come- back to defeat No. 2 Marian Catho- lic 76-66 at Glenbard East's 'When Sides Collide' in Lombard," the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Ulis notched 23 points and nine assists for Marian (15-2), which trimmed a 55-38 deficit to 66-63 with 1:26 to go in the game. "Tyler is a very good point guard, a very good player, period," said Brunson, who was 9 of 15 from the field and 11 of 14 from the line. "I think he has the complete pack- age. He can do everything. I try to model some of his game. He is such a good defender. "It wasn't really a one-on-one matchup. I've got to give props to Tyler leading his team." N Y 2 L A S p o r t s . c o m r e p o r t e d Brunson was fantastic and efficient. "He scored 32 points on 8-of-14 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds and making numerous big plays," the website wrote. "The lefty guard hunts his shot and looks for teammates, and can do so much on the floor thanks to his tremendous basketball IQ. Brunson changes pace well and since he's able to stop on a dime and score from anywhere, he's always a threat to score." Brunson holds offers from Michi- gan, Michigan State, Illinois, Ohio State, Purdue, DePaul, Creighton, SMU and Xavier. FIVE-STAR NARROWS HIS LIST Michigan is also still heavily in- volved with Kennard, a five-star shooting guard. The 6-5 standout, Rivals.com's No. 16 junior prospect nationally, is planning on taking of- ficial visits soon. Kennard, now averaging a whop- ping 40 points per game, is consid- ered a Kentucky lean by most, but he still has a list of seven schools, including Louisville, Kentucky, Duke, Ohio State, Michigan, North Carolina and Florida. "I've grown up around Kentucky basketball my whole life," he ad- mitted in explaining why Louisville was on his list. "My grandpa and dad are from Kentucky. "I like the support Coach [John] Calipari brings [from Kentucky]. I like their program, the way they carry themselves. They've had a lot of success in the past, and I like their style of play." Ohio State and Michigan have been recruiting him the longest, he continued. "They've been recruiting me since my freshman year," he said. "I really like the coaching staffs. They are great, and they've had some pretty successful years in the past. Coach [Thad] Matta is a great guy, and his assistants. I'm really close to Ohio State, and it would be easy to get up there, travel up there. "I've been to Michigan a couple times. Coach Beilein, I talked to him recently, and we talked about style of play, how I could fit in there, be another Nik Stauskas." Kennard hasn't decided on of- ficial visit dates yet, but he plans
