The NHL MAX PACIORETTY ENDURES SCARE BEFORE JOINING USA OLYMPIC TEAM Former Michigan icer Max Pacio- retty knows pain, having experienced plenty after a March 2011 hit from Tim Hardaway Jr. • NBA The New York Knicks rookie and former Wolverine scored a career-high 29 points in New York's 117-86 victory over Cleveland Jan. 30. Hardaway made 11 of 17 field goals and 6 of 12 triples in the win. Jake Long • NFL The former Michigan offensive lineman, now with the St. Louis Rams, underwent reconstructive surgery on his knee in January, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Jan. 23. Long was injured in the Rams' game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Dec. 22. His knee buckled while pass blocking and tests later revealed that he had a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) as well as a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL). Max Pacioretty • NHL Pacioretty scored three goals to lead the Canadiens to a 5-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks Feb. 6. Pacioretty, however, missed two penalty shots. He was awarded both penalty shots in a two-minute span in the second period, becoming the second player in NHL to be awarded two in the same period.
