Watson is a thickly built defensive back, already carrying 185 pounds at 5-11, and is on campus for the winter semester, giving him a chance to contribute early. He is also versatile, capable of playing either cornerback or safety during his ca- reer. However, with the depth Michigan has built up in the secondary, he should be able to bide his time and make his first impact on the field as a sophomore, unless he impresses enough to earn spe- cial teams action. 12. Wide receiver Maurice Ways Beverly Hills (Mich.) Detroit Country Day Three-star recruit, No. 61 wide receiver in the country and No. 6 player in Michigan Ways has the long, lanky frame at 6-3, 192 pounds to be a viable deep threat and a red-zone terror during his Michi- gan career. However, he's a relatively recent convert to football, previously considering himself a basketball athlete first and foremost. Because of that, he has to learn the nuances of the game before he's ready to contribute. With both other receivers in the class enroll- ing early, he should be able to attack his development with plenty of patience through year one. 13. Linebacker Noah Furbush Kenton (Ohio) Three-star recruit and No. 42 player in Ohio Furbush is already plenty big at 6-4 and 229 pounds, and time spent in a college strength and conditioning program could see him grow into a defensive end. He played primarily as a stand-up end during his senior year, and the Michigan coaches like his pass-rush abilities. While he develops physically, he could either be a big line- backer or true defensive lineman, and should spend a year letting his body mature to see where he will ultimately fit best. 14. Linebacker Jared Wangler Warren (Mich.) De La Salle Three-star recruit and No. 17 player in Michigan Wangler sacrificed for the good of his team as a senior, keeping his weight down to 215 pounds on his 6-2 frame to play safety, where he was needed for De Warren (Mich.) De La Salle product Jared Wangler will need some time to bulk up his 6-2, 215-pound frame before making an impact down the road. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
