BASKETBALL RECRUITING nals March 1 — admittedly short of the self-imposed goal of a championship — Colsonz accomplished a number of milestones during his high school career. He notched more than 1,900 points in his career to finish among the best in St. Andrew's history, and his No. 35 (the same number he will wear in South Bend) was retired. During his senior campaign, Colson averaged 18.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game to help St. An- drews to a 26-5 record. He was tabbed as a nominee for the 2014 McDonald's All-American Game. "I feel like I did pretty good with my goals," he said. "I rebounded the ball well, I scored well and also played defense. I helped lead my team to a lot of wins this season." Considered a hybrid between the small forward and power forward po- sitions, Colson hopes his versatility will help him see the court early in his Irish career. Despite the much more readily available minutes at power for- ward with a pair of fifth-year seniors departing, Colson said he will wait to see where Brey wants him before he makes any assumptions about play- ing time. Colson speaks with Brey and assis- tant coach Martin Ingelsby often, and his full focus is on enrolling at Notre Dame this summer now that his high school career has ended. "We lost a couple close games," he said of his future Irish teammates. "They've played hard and I think I'll be able to fit in well. I just feel like we'll be a solid team." Colson is ranked as the No. 115 player in the country, the No. 26 small forward nationally and the No. 1 player in Rhode Island by 247Sports. EMERGING TARGETS Sophomore forward Cam Bieds- cheid's December transfer opened up a scholarship for the 2014-15 season. As- suming suspended guard Jerian Grant returns for his fifth season next year (all signs from Grant and Brey point toward his return) and junior guard/ forward Pat Connaughton does the same (a high selection in June's Ma- jor League Baseball Draft could result in a premature end to his basketball career), Notre Dame will use 11 of 13 Bonzie Colsen, a 2014 signee, is ranked as the No. 115 prospect in the nation, the No. 26 small forward in the country and the No. 1 recruit in Rhode Island.
