fensive linemen in the country, and I
want to go to school with some of the
other best players as well," he said.
"That's another reason why I chose
Notre Dame. I want to compete with
great players, earn my spot and show
that I can be a difference-maker at the
next level.
"Going to Notre Dame as an offen-
sive lineman, chances are high that I'll
redshirt, and that's fine with me. I'm
only 270 pounds, and I have a lot of
room to grow. I'm excited to take that
year to work hard, get bigger, train
with the coaches and be prepared to
compete for a starting job in year two."
Cary-Grove Community head coach
Brad Seaburg also believes that Ruh-
land, who chose the Irish over offers
from Duke, Kentucky, Nebraska and
others, has a bright future in South
Bend. He also expects his star offen-
sive lineman to succeed off the field.
"For a player his size, Trevor is very
athletic," Seaburg said. "He has very
good feet and really good hands. He
brings some athleticism and aggres-
siveness to the offensive line, and he's
a real nasty player. He'll finish blocks.
It's not uncommon to see him lock up
with a guy and drive block the kid for
20 to 25 yards.
"Trevor is very smart when it comes
to football. He's been on the varsity
for three years, and he's very astute to
what we do as an offense."
Ruhland said he will be back on
campus in South Bend June 20 for the
Irish Invasion camp. He is looking for-
ward to competing, doing some re-
cruiting and meeting some of the other
commitments from the 2015 class. ✦
