Matt Ryan: "It really went well. It went great. Coach Brey and Coach Ingelsby came to the house and sat down with me and my family for some dinner and they said a lot of great things about what Notre Dame can do for me and what I can do for them." BGI: You have a lot of familiarity with both coaches. What did they emphasize to you during the in-home visit? MR: "It was the first time I really got to sit down with Coach Brey for an extensive amount of time. The biggest thing that he said was he wants me to come in and be ready as a freshman to make a huge impact. He said the goal is for me to come in and be an All-ACC first-team rookie. "That was pretty cool to hear from him. He said on the court and off the court Notre Dame has a lot of great op- portunities." BGI: Why do you think you're a good fit for the system that Coach Brey runs at Notre Dame? MR: "They just said the timing for me to come in [is right]. They need a tough shooter who can do good things on both ends of the court. They want to bring in good players from my class and they want to surround me with good players. "They said I'm the main guy in 2015, and that was great to hear." BGI: You've talked a few times about how much you'd like an offer from Duke and North Carolina. Where do you stand with them in the recruiting process? MR: "I still talk to them a lot. All of the schools that are in that top 11, those are the schools I talk to the most. "Duke and Carolina, they want to see how I come back [from the injury], and they're going to come see me in September." BGI: You mentioned the [torn labrum in the hip] injury. How's the recovery process going? MR: "It's tough not playing, but I'm almost two months from surgery and I just started jogging this week and I'm making good progress. I'm actually a little ahead of time of where I'm supposed to be, which is really good. "I'm not going to rush anything. I'm going to take my time and play it by ear." BGI: Do you have any projections for when you might be at full strength again? MR: "Yeah, they said I should be 100 percent in mid-to-late July or the latest would be the end of August." BGI: I know there are a lot of moving parts in the recruiting process, but do you have any ideal timeline for when you want to make a final decision? Do you want to go into your senior season with a commit- ment? MR: "Yes. Without a doubt. I'm definitely going to make a decision hopefully by mid-November." — Andrew Owens 247Sports lists Ryan as the No. 5 recruit in New York, the No. 18 small forward nationally and the No. 98 over- all prospect in the class of 2015.
