BASKETBALL RECRUITING the Wolverines have made a move. Winston has been on the U-M campus three times in June and July, including an unofficial visit. "They showed us the Trey Burke stuff [on film]," his dad, Reg Winston, said. "We like the ball screen action and a lot of the decision-making responsi- bilities. It's good, almost like a coach on the floor. "He likes the guys up there … likes Coach Beilein, and Coach [LaVall] Jordan because he knows so much about that guard position. He loves Bacari [Alexander], really everybody up there." Winston went toe-to-toe with Thornton at the College Practice Camp and shined, and he might be better than his No. 35 ranking. He averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 steals for a Detroit Jesuit team that went 22-3 and lost in the Class A semifinals to Bloomfield Hills last season. JON TESKE 6-11 • 210 Medina (Ohio) High Rankings: Not ranked Other Offers: Ohio State, Dayton The latest on Teske: Teske visited Michigan for the Wisconsin game and likes the program, though he and his dad grew up Ohio State fans. That could be tough to overcome, though U-M is thought to be in solid position, too. Teske insists he liked Michigan growing up, as well, and Notre Dame, MSU and others are also on him. He hasn't even scratched the sur- face of his potential and continues to improve. "They said they really like the way I play after they saw me, and they thought I could fit in their offense very well," Teske said of the U-M coaches. "It's really exciting that both rivals offered me, but I'm keeping all my options open, seeing other op- tions." He was a standout at the Michigan team camp in late June, and it's only a matter of time before he picks up more of- fers, but U-M will be there at the end, as will the Buckeyes. He isn't close to de- ciding. Teske averaged 11.5 points as a sophomore. He plans on going through the process and deciding next year. Something else to watch — the Buckeyes just got a pledge from class of 2015 top-50 big man Daniel Gid- dens. T.J. LEAF, PF 6-9 • 210 El Cajon (Calif.) Foothills Christian Rankings: Rivals.com No. 20 junior nationally Notable Offers: Indiana, UCLA, San Diego State The latest on Leaf: Coached by his father, Leaf has emerged as one of
