BASKETBALL RECRUITING the best big men in the country — he was outstanding when we caught him at the June adi- das Gauntlet in In- dianapolis, where he showed an ability to shoot, pass and rebound. He has In- diana roots, is a big Hoosiers fan and has visited IU three times, but he's been to Michigan twice and has U-M up there with IU and UCLA, with Arizona also in his top four. He averaged 26 points and 11.5 rebounds per game last season. Indiana, UCLA and Michigan are currently the three to beat. "Those are probably the main three," Leaf said. "There are other programs that showed a lot of inter- est, but those are the top three that showed they really, really want me." Leaf likes his fit in the Michigan offense and seems destined to play in the Big Ten. He is currently planning on deciding in March. QUENTIN GOODIN, PG 6-2 • 170 Campbellsville (Ky.) Taylor County Rankings: Rivals.com No. 59 junior nationally Notable Offers: Indiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, West Virginia The latest on Goodin: Goodin shined at the Michigan camp to earn his of- fer June 15, the second time the U-M coaches have seen him play well. They caught his triple-double — 28 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds — against Nelson County in the winter, and Goodin continues to improve. He can shoot it, and though he's not as athletic as some of the other point guards offered, he has a high basket- ball IQ and can finish. U-M has point guard options, but he's one to watch — he likes the pro- gram a lot. "You see Trey Burke, him getting drafted like he did, and I feel I'm a little like Trey was," he said. "I feel like they could bring my game to a whole new level. How good they've been over the years, it wouldn't shock me if they got a national championship soon." Goodin plans to spend the rest of the summer playing with the AAU St. Louis Eagles before formulating his initial list, but the Wolverines are likely to be high on it. Indiana, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Tennes- see, West Virginia and Kansas State are among those that have offered, while Florida, VCU and Ohio State have recently inquired. ❏ DIGITAL BONUS: CLICK TO PLAY OR STOP THE PODCAST Tim Sullivan and Chris Balas of The Wolverine discuss Hoops Recruiting
