Taylor originally received an Irish of-
fer prior to the Notre Dame's 14-10 win
over USC on Oct. 19, 2013. While he did
not finalize a decision for eight months,
the Irish remained the leader for most
of that period.
"It was just the place for me," he said.
"There's so much tradition there, the
academics are some of the best in the
country and I really felt a great connec-
tion with the coaching staff."
Taylor, whom 247Sports rates as the
No. 19 defensive tackle nationally and
the No. 14 player from Ohio, attended
the Irish Invasion camp in June and
did his best to recruit some of Notre
Dame's remaining targets in the 2015
class.
With a verbal commitment behind
him, Taylor said he is shutting down
the recruiting process and will only
take visits to South Bend this fall. No
dates have been finalized.
He became the second prospect from
Ohio to commit during a 72-hour span
in June when he joined three-star cor-
nerback Nick Coleman.
Taylor and Indianapolis four-star
Brandon Tiassum are the two defen-
sive tackles committed to Notre Dame
in this year's class. They project well in
the 4-3 system and could even occasion-
ally be joined on the inside by Boling-
brook, Ill., three-star defensive end Mi-
cah Dew-Treadway. The program's top
defensive line target heading into the
fall is Keisean Lucier-South, a five-star
defensive end from Orange, Calif., who
is currently ranked as the No. 30 player
in the nation by 247Sports. He is set to
visit South Bend for the Oct. 4 Stanford
contest. ✦
