BY TOM LOY Milton (Mass.) Academy kicker Jus- tin Yoon visited Notre Dame on June 9 with little to no expectations. The 5-11, 185-pounder wanted to work out for the Irish coaching staff at their camp, perform well and "see what happens." After connecting on nearly every field goal and putting his talent on display for the Irish staff, special teams coach Scott Booker and head coach Brian Kelly seemingly had no choice but to extend an offer. A few weeks later, Yoon ended his recruitment and made the "easy choice" to be Irish. "I didn't expect an offer from Notre Dame," said Yoon, a class of 2015 recruit. "I went to the camp and just wanted to do my best, and I guess I accomplished that. They offered and it was really spe- cial to me. "Coach Booker told me that I needed to talk to Coach Kelly after the camp. I ended up seeing him off campus and talked with him. It was an honor just to meet him, and I figured that he just wanted to introduce himself. But then he offered me and told me that he wanted me as a part of his class. It was awesome." Although he held offers from Notre Dame, Boston College, Northwestern and Texas A&M, Yoon favored the Irish and the Wildcats. Following his visits to South Bend and Evanston on June 22 and 23, respectively, Yoon committed to the Fighting Irish coaching staff. "Notre Dame fits most of my criteria that I'm looking for in a school, both aca- demically and with football," Yoon said. "The coaching staff was incredible, and they are very approachable. It felt like I was at home up there. "The players were great, too. They didn't treat me like some kicker, but more of a key guy they wanted on the team. [Notre Dame kicker] Kyle Brin- dza was great. He told me great things about the school and said how unique and interesting it was. I saw that when I was up there. "I'm also Catholic and that played a factor. I was amazed by everything up COMMITMENT PROFILE JUSTIN YOON Top Kicker Is Bringing A Golden Leg To South Bend 247Sports ranks Yoon as the No. 1 kicker in the 2015 class and the No. 8 prospect in Massachusetts.
