UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Elizabeth Tucker — Soccer The former Irish captain and ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year in women's soccer was nominated this summer for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. Tucker is one of two candidates from the ACC up for the award, which honors graduating athletes for their careers on the field, in the classroom and in the community. She earned her accounting degree this spring with a perfect 4.0 GPA, started 87 of her 92 career matches for the Irish, and contributed to a long list of local charities and volunteer programs. Robert Youngdahl — Baseball The baseball transfer student is making his mark in the famous Cape Cod Baseball League this summer. Youngdahl's batting average was .321 through mid-July, and he had thrown four two-hit appearances as a pitcher. The rising senior is also one of three Irish players to make the ACC's All-Academic Base- ball Team, which was announced in early July. Logan Renwick — Track & Field The senior is one of seven Irish athletes across all sports to make the Capital One Academic All-America first team this year. Renwick finished fourth in the long jump and triple jump at the ACC Championships. He also made the Academic All- America team last year after placing third in the Big East Cham- pionship long jump. The Pennsylvania native graduated this spring with a 3.89 GPA and a degree in mechanical engineering. Peter Schneider — Hockey The Austrian native is one of eight Irish hockey players to make the Hockey East All-Academic Team. Along with speak- ing four languages fluently, Schneider holds a 3.95 GPA while pursuing a double major in finance and economics. The junior winger had career highs with eight goals and eight assists this season. He won the team's Rockne Student-Athlete of the Year award and made the Capital One All-District Academic team.
