not going to change when I get to Notre Dame. It's the same as what I'm already doing now. "That's why I don't think I could have found a better place for me. It's going to be a smooth transition for me, and I'm really excited about working hard and reaping the benefits of my work at the next level." Notre Dame tight ends coach Scott Booker has been White's primary re- cruiter for the past few years. He and defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks have shown a great deal of interest in the talented defensive back, who stepped on campus for the first time June 27. "A big part of my decision was based on my relationship with Coach Booker and Coach Cooks," White said. "I'm going to learn so much from Coach Cooks. On and off the field, he's in- credible. I know that he can help me become a better player and person. We had a great talk when I was up there. I know that he cares about me and really wants me to play for him. "Coach Booker has been coming by FILM ANALYSIS Strengths Ashton White has a very good frame and size for the cornerback position … Has long arms … Has a willingness to hit and plays extremely physical … Very good in press coverage and is physical at the line of scrimmage … Shows ex- ceptional footwork and above average quick- ness … Instinctive and breaks on the ball well … Length, quickness and physicality makes up for lacking true top end speed … Technically sound football player with a plus knowledge of the game. Areas For Improvement Has very good, but not elite, athleticism and speed … Likely runs in the 4.6 range for the 40-yard dash … Will need to improve overall strength and continue adding mass. — Tom Loy
