Recruiting Notes • Following four-star Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., linebacker Tevon Coney's visit to South Bend for the Irish Invasion camp, he named Notre Dame and Florida as his leaders with Tennessee still a contender. According to a source, the academics, the tradition, the campus and the controlled environment are all strong positives for the Irish. Per 247Sports, Coney is the No. 11 inside linebacker in the nation and the No. 37 overall recruit in Florida. • Anaheim, Calif., four-star wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown and his father continue to look like they favor the Irish. Academics will play a major role in his recruitment, and while many believe this is a four-team race between Notre Dame, UCLA, USC and Stanford, a source close to the situation tells Blue & Gold Illustrated that this is an Irish-Trojans battle. St. Brown, admittedly, is a fan of USC on the field, but Notre Dame is the school he and his family believe offers the best fit. St. Brown will return to South Bend with his family for an official visit when the Irish take on Stanford on Oct. 4, and this will allow his mother an opportunity to see the campus and meet with the coaching staff. According to 247Sports, St. Brown is the No. 205 overall recruit in the nation, the No. 22 wide receiver in the land and the No. 29 player in California. • Notre Dame remains a top contender for four-star running back Soso Jamabo of Plano, Texas. In speaking with sources close to Jamabo's recruitment at the event, it's clear that he is genuine regarding his plan to attend a school that is strong academically as well as athletically. Notre Dame fits the mold.
