FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY TOM LOY I t's hard to imagine Michigan and Notre Dame not squaring off each sea- son, but that's exactly the case for the two storied programs starting next year. With the final game being played at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, under the lights and in front of a sold-out crowd, Notre Dame will host some of the top prospects from across the country. The Fighting Irish coaching staff is expected to host nine recruits on official visits, including five current commits and four uncommitted players from the 2015 class. The four targets that have yet to make a commitment are all players at a position of need for Notre Dame. However, there isn't a more important recruit coming to campus than Plano (Texas) West four-star running back Soso Jamabo. The 6-3, 210-pound re- cruit may not be the highest rated of the bunch, but he could step in imme- diately as the No. 3 ball carrier behind running backs Tarean Folston and Greg Bryant, who would be juniors by the time Jamabo arrives on campus if he were to chose to play for Notre Dame. Jamabo has a great deal of interest in the Irish, and his relationship with run- ning backs coach Tony Alford can't be topped. Baylor, Oklahoma and UCLA look to be the other players in the race, but sources close to the situation believe that Notre Dame is on top for his ser- vices at this point. Jamabo is ranked as the No. 116 over- all recruit in the 2015 class, the No. 12 running back in the country and the No. 12 player in Texas by 247Sports. From a national perspective, Salem (Utah) Hills five-star outside line- backer Porter Gustin looks like a lock to play for the USC Trojans. However, Irish Host Top Targets For Michigan Game Notre Dame target Soso Jamabo — a 6-3, 215- pound running back from Plano, Texas — is offi- cially visiting for the Michigan game Sept. 6. 247Sports ranks Jamabo as the No. 12 running back in the country.
