wo days prior to the season opener
against Rice, Notre Dame head
coach Brian Kelly indicated the univer-
sity had informed him that its inves-
tigation into possible academic fraud
against four players — and then a fifth
— had reached its conclusion.
Next on the itinerary was turning
it over to the Honor Code committee
for hearings that were expected to take
place the week of the Michigan game.
On Aug. 15, the university an-
nounced it was undertaking an in-
vestigation into academic fraud that
required withholding four football
players from practice and team meet-
ings (though they were still enrolled as
students): fifth-year senior linebacker
Kendall Moore, senior wide receiver
DaVaris Daniels, senior defensive end
Ishaq Williams and junior cornerback
KeiVarae Russell.
On the same day (Aug. 28) that Kelly
said the investigation aspect had been
finished, the university released a state-
ment announcing that a fifth player
had been removed from practicing and
playing in games because of the results
of the investigation. Senior safety Eilar
Hardy was revealed to be that player

The academic fraud investigation has ended,
and the Honors Code committee will now act

and allowed it to focus on the season ahead.
