BASKETBALL RECRUITING His play on the court isn't the only reason he's so heavily recruited, however. He's extremely humble in addition to being hard working, and he won't take anything for granted. "I'm not surprised his recruitment is the way it is," Gary Battle said. "People these days seem to be inter‑ ested in what kind of a kid a guy is, his ability and character, not just if he can play. "Whatever it takes to be a good teammate, Tyus is going to do it. I'm excited about his improvement — Tyus is all about work and integrity." The Duke offer caught the Battles' attention, but it wasn't the game changer some thought it could be. Battle will visit Duke Oct. 25, but re‑ mains open and will likely see Vir‑ ginia this fall as well. Ohio State, Villanova, Connecti‑ cut, Kentucky and Louisville are others high on his list in addition to Michigan. "We'll narrow it to probably eight to 10 this fall, and Michigan will make the cut," Gary Battle said. "We want to do the right thing by every‑ body and allow teams to move on [if they're not finalists]. But Michi‑ gan is definitely excited about his improvement, and Tyus is high on their radar." And has been for quite a while. Battle hopes to make it to the spring AAU season, at least, before deciding, but could pledge at any time if he feels he's found the right fit. Michigan was set to visit him the week of Sept. 15, while Seton Hall, Louisville, Villanova, Ohio State and others will also be in. COACHES HIT THE ROAD The fall contact and evaluation pe‑ riod began the week of Sept. 8, and the Michigan coaches saw many of their top targets in the first week. The Wolverines have yet to sign anyone in the class of 2015 and visited only two known senior targets, so it's pos‑ sible they might not take any from the 2015 group. For one, there's not much of a need after they signed a six‑man class in 2014 that appears to be even better than expected. They're strong with the 2016 class, too, and will have a chance to sign some outstanding prospects. Make no mistake, though — the two they continue to watch closely in 2015 are high on their list. Here's a look at those two and many of the others the U‑M coaches have seen (or were planning to) in September in addition to Medina, Ohio, big man pledge Jon Teske (6‑11, Rivals.com's No. 97 junior) and Glad‑ stone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard's Tyus Battle (6‑5, No. 16), who are both fea‑ tured above: P.J. DOZIER, PG/SG 6-6, 200 Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley Rivals.com's No. 40 senior nationally Michigan assistant LaVall Jordan was in to see Dozier during the week of Sept. 8, and for good reason — the standout will visit U‑M Sept. 26. He'll also visit Louisville Oct. 3,
