INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS U-M swimming and diving head coach Mike Bottom noted Hilde represents a strong piece of the puzzle going forward, for a program that competes for Big Ten and national championship honors on an annual basis. "Mike Hide is exactly the kind of person we were looking for to lead our div- ing program," Bottom said. "He has passion, enthusiasm and is armed with an incredible work ethic that we believe will translate to success in the diving well. He has strong ties on both the national and inter- national levels, which is go- ing to really help us in the fu- ture. We're absolutely thrilled to have Mike on board." Hilde served on the USA Div- ing coaching staff for the 2014 FINA World Junior Champion- ships, which concluded Sept. 14 in Penza, Russia. With Mission Viejo Nada- dores, he developed training programs and offered techni- cal guidance and instruction to Junior Olympic and Senior- level athletes. He's served on the USA Diving Committee of Competitive Excellence since 2012. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Michigan junior Shannon Osika earned Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors in wom- en's cross country on Sept. 2.
