UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Cari Roccaro — Soccer No. 10 Notre Dame desperately needed a goal to prevent a home loss to No. 5 Virginia on Oct. 5, and with only six minutes — and one second, to be exact — remaining, junior midfielder Cari Roccaro found the back of the Cavaliers' net with a 30- yard goal, her first of the season. In the end, Virginia rendered Roccaro's snipe moot, taking a 2-1 lead and subsequent vic- tory with less than 30 seconds remaining. Vince Hinostroza — Hockey Notre Dame's season got off to a rocky start with an exhi- bition loss to Waterloo, but that was in no part due to the sophomore center, who began his season in style with two of Notre Dame's four goals. Hinostroza scored eight goals in his entire freshman campaign, but with much of last year's scoring having graduated, he will be needed to contribute significantly more this year. Talia Campbell — Golf Junior Talia Campbell may have finished only 13th at the Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Okla., but on the second day, she tied a Notre Dame record with her single-round, four- under-par 66, the lowest single-round in Irish history. Camp- bell's record led the way for Notre Dame's lowest single-round in program history, a three-under 277. Campbell followed her record-setting round with a one-under 69 to finish with a three-day total of one-under par. Hanna Muzzonigro — Volleyball Junior setter Hanna Muzzonigro led the charge when Notre Dame steam-rolled Syracuse 3-1 on Oct. 3. Muzzonigro's ca- reer-high 49 assists set up four different teammates for dou- ble-digit kills. The assists tally marked the second consecutive match that Muzzonigro raised her career high, after providing 34 in a 3-0 defeat at No. 6 Florida State. She also added four digs, three blocks and three kills against the Orange. TOP OF THE CLASS
