School Commits the No. 2 recruit in Ohio. • Atlanta Woodward Academy four-star running Eljiah Holyfield picked up an offer from Notre Dame Oct. 7. If the last name sounds familiar, it should. The 5-11, 200-pounder is the son of former world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield. With the offer, Notre Dame joins Georgia, Ohio State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Auburn, Tennessee and a few others in the mix to land Holyfield's services. However, it's believed that the Irish, Buckeyes and Bulldogs are the frontrunners at this point. Per 247Sports, Holyfield is the No. 25 running back nationally and the No. 37 recruit in Georgia. • Columbus (Ohio) Gahanna Lincoln four-star defensive end Jonathon Cooper continues to rack up big-time offers. Notre Dame is the latest school to extend an offer to the 6-3, 215-pounder and did so Sept. 18. Cooper took his first trip to South Bend Oct. 4 and watched the Irish take on Stanford. "It was great," Cooper told 247Sports national director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong. "I'm really glad I went up there. "I just think that Notre Dame is a great school. The campus has a whole bunch of history. The fans are crazy. I loved the band. Of course, the football team was good, and the food was great, too." Notre Dame is in the hunt to land the Ohio native, but Ohio State is the heavy favorite according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
