MATT WILE FINDING
CONFIDENCE, CONSISTENCY
Michigan kicker Matt Wile started
the season 1 of 4 on field goals at-
tempts, including two misses at
Notre Dame that deflated an offense
that moved the ball decently in the
first half. There was a commonality
to all three of his misses — they came
from the right hash mark, a spot he
admitted had become his nemesis.
Head coach Brady Hoke even said
as much in the postgame after Wile
missed both of his field goals from
the right hash, calling it something
Wile had to "straighten out."
The coaches continued to challenge
Wile in practice, and it's paid off.
The senior was 8 of 12 on field goals
heading into the Oct. 25 game with
Michigan State.
"Dan Ferrigno does a really good
job with him," Hoke said of his spe-
cial teams coach. "Dan understands
a little more the mechanics of it, all
those things. When Matt is strug-
Wile, a senior placekicker, connected on 7 of 8 field goals, with a long of 45 yards, after
starting the season 1 of 4.
