BASKETBALL RECRUITING would fit in was a highlight, he added. "That was really important, too," Perry Dozier said. "We figured he was a good fit anyway, but they pretty much drew it all out, showing the ball going through his hands. They showed us how they'd run the of‑ fense and where he fits. They're re‑ cruiting him for the position he's been groomed to play, the one — they don't call it that, which is understandable, but he'd be in a role where he'd be doing the decision making." The weather was great on the visit — "we brought it with us," Perry Dozier quipped — and so was the two‑day introduction to U‑M. "It was 48 hours of really getting to know Michigan. It was totally awe‑ some spending time with the play‑ ers and coaches," Perry Dozier said. "We're building a really good rap‑ port with them, which is real nice. They have so much to offer when it comes down to not just basketball, but life after. That stood out more than anything. "We got a whole new outlook on the Michigan family." North Carolina, Georgetown, South Carolina and Louisville are the other schools still on Dozier's list, and he's already visited UNC, a one‑time fa‑ vorite. Dozier will wrap up visits by the end of October and hopes to make a November decision, and it appears Michigan will have a legitimate shot. "They set the bar high," Perry Doz‑ ier said. SEVERAL 2016 TARGETS ARE STILL HIGH ON MICHIGAN There aren't many schools — Ken‑ tucky, maybe Duke — that are sit‑ ting prettier with class of 2016 recruits than Michigan. The Wolverines have already locked up Teske and are in strong contention for several others. U‑M continues to prioritize Hen‑ derson (Nev.) Findlay Prep point guard Derryck Thornton Jr., and that's helped keep the Wolverines at or near the top for Rivals.com's No. 9 junior nationally. Thornton is planning an‑ other trip to Ann Arbor this fall, this time to get a better look at the aca‑ demic side of Michigan. Thornton broke his hand in Au‑ gust, shelving him for two months and causing him to miss his earned moment with Team USA's Under‑17 team, which captured the gold medal at the World Championships in Dubai. He's had an MRI and been in a brace, so now he's working on his legs and his explosion, dad Derryck CLASS OF 2015 NOTES • Senior five -star center Caleb Swani- gan from Homestead High in Fort Wayne, I nd., (R ivals.com's No. 16 player nation- ally) remains on the radar, but he has no plans to visit soon and is in no hurry to decide. He took an unofficial visit to Kentucky Oct. 10 and also expects to visit Michigan State, Arizona and Chicago State — the team that first offered him — unofficially. He'll likely sign in April.
