BASKETBALL14-15 replace, and I know it's the same thing I said last year. When you have young players — we re- fer to them as growing players — we don't want to get into using that as an excuse. They're grow- ing. I like what I've seen, and we had the great ad- vantage of going over to Europe." CRISLER CENTER RE-DO LAUDED W h e n M i c h i g a n poured roughly $100 million into turning Crisler Arena in the Crisler Center, it turned heads across the nation. It's still drawing notice, most recently as a 2014 Athletics Business Facilities of Merit award win- ner. Michigan added 63,000 square feet to the arena, created new entrances, club seating, retail space, a media area, totally revamped seating, a dramatic fountain wall beside escalators taking fans to the arena level and more. New heating, ventilation and cooling sys- tems, a change in the arena lighting and a new scoreboard preceded the finish work. "We are excited with what Crisler Cen- ter has evolved into and how it services our student-athletes on a daily basis and our fans on game day," noted Steve Donoghue, athletics project manager. "It was a long and complicated pro- cess that the entire project team has a lot to be proud of. We look forward to practicing and compet- ing in Crisler for many years to come." The merit awards were selected by a panel of sports and recreation facilities architects over two days of judging in Madison, Wis. The 10 winners will appear in the November issue of Athletic Business. TICKET PACKAGES ARE AVAILABLE M i c h i g a n b a s k e t - ball season tickets are sold out for the second straight year. Fans can still access U-M games, though, via a pair of ticket packages on sale through the school. The U-M ticket office is featuring the "Michigan Pack" and the "Family Four Pack." The "Michigan Pack" consists of four non-conference clashes against in-state foes — Wayne State (Monday, Nov. 10), Hillsdale (Saturday, Nov. 15), Detroit (Thursday, Nov. 20) and East- ern Michigan (Tuesday, Dec. 9). The "Michigan Pack" costs $40, and gives the holder access to the regular-season opener against Hillsdale, at which the 2014 Big Ten championship banner will be raised in a pre-game ceremony. The "Family Four Pack" features tick- ets for Hillsdale, Nicholls State (Satur- day, Nov. 29) and New Jersey Institute of Technology (Saturday, Dec. 6). Those seats go for $60 per pack, and include four tickets, four hot dogs and four bev- erages. For the second straight year, head coach John Beilein has been tasked with replacing multiple key players. PHOTO BY LON HORWEDEL
